Default "Windows Security Center"

This god **** program keeps popping up on my computer periodically, and it's driving me crazy. To be fair, it looks authentic, but the links that it provides to get rid of spyware look bogus. Either way, is there a way I can disable it?

Yeah, welcome to SP2. Before you start complaining, try searching tech forums, searching the Web, and RTFM.

Beating a dead horse doesn't even begin to describe this.

Why don't you cry a little bit more? Considering that the Spyware forum gets about 4 topics a day, I don't think your whining is quite warranted. #2, I don't keep up to-date on your l337 H4X0R acronyms, so RTFM doesn't mean **** to me. Does KMA mean anything to you?

FURTHER MORE, no one has addressed my ORIGINAL question asking if it can be disabled. I run 3-spyware programs so I know I am adequately protected, and I'm tired of seeing this pop-up. If someone can geniunely help me, I would appreciate it.

I think yer confusing "cry" with "utter disgust".

Considering that spyware is a big topic, and that most of it is re-run questions, I think yer rebutle has a leak in it.

l337 speak has nothing to do with this. The acronym "RTFM" has been around for decades. So, for you 90-year-olds out there, or anyone who hasn't ever been on a tech/support/any forum before:
RTFM=Read The Fking Manual
Use at your own risk. Do not use while drunk. The acronym RTFM does not imply that there is actually a manual and may otherwise indicate release documentation, help files, memos, notes, manufacturer's web notices, readme files, notices from publisher, and/or common sense. This has been a public service announcement, for the greater good. If experiencing difficulties, remove self from gene pool immediately. Use responsibly.

When you don't know something, it might help to at least try. You apparently managed to figure out it was an acronym, so why couldn't you go look it up?
For your future acronym challenges, I recommend using an Acronym Finder instead of flip'n out.

No. You'll have to try someone else. In the mean time, you can GFY.

We have all given you quite clear instructions on what to do about your problem (except maybe ZeroX, but no offense to him).
1. Read the release documentation.
2. Read the help file.
3. Search the web.
4. Search tech forums.
5. Search Microsoft.

There are people that can help you, but I think they charge $400 an hour.

So do these sarcastic laden rants to the anonymous on internet message boards add both girth AND length to your e-*****?

I primarily use OSX so I'm not as familiar with XP. I am at home for a couple weeks fixing my father's computer (the machine running XP) which is WHY I came onto this forum asking for some advice on this. I didn't feel like trudging through Microsoft's ****** website, and figured someone could give me a quick answer on here. Thanks for nothing, pal.
