Either way, if you think every piece of malware is a rootkit, then you my friend, need to go back to school and re-learn. |

| Agreed. Not every piece of malware is a rootkit. What about trojans, worms, and the like? Different from rootkits.

| Re: Tech-Forums Top Rated Antivirus I prefer AVG. If it weren't for AVG my friend and I would have been infected with the confiker crap. AVG caught the virus as soon as a infected USB drive was inserted on my computer.

| Re: Tech-Forums Top Rated Antivirus My favorite has to be Avast purely for the boot scanning, it has really helped me get rid of brontock a couple of times, not to sure if any of the other free anti-viruses do boot scans now but about 2 years ago Avast was the only one I could find that did it.
Only problem with Avast registering for a free key now is a bit confusing two people who I recommended Avast to said they couldn't find where to register for free home use and ended up buying it but other than than have only had a few spywares slip through. |

| Re: Tech-Forums Top Rated Antivirus As an everyday downloader, i've been using avast and it works great with no problems that i know of. updates itself, runs in the background, really safe. I like it.

| Re: Tech-Forums Top Rated Antivirus I dropped all of them and am going with Microsoft Security Essentials. I think it is great and has offered me subperb protection. Plus it will be free.
