Yes, I had that idea already and tried it, but everytime I shut down all avg processes they restarted by themselves. It just looks like I can't shut it down unless I de-install it. |

| Re: Tech-Forums Top Rated Antivirus ^it's un-install.
hmm, it should be completely dead until you restart it. Maybe it is scheduled to start every so often (so if it is off it starts back up again).
Just to make sure you are doing what i think you are doing...
ctrl-alt-delete> processes>anything that says avg click on and press delete and enter.

And Yes, that's exaclty what I did, I opened the task manager, and deleted all the AVG running processes, but they do pop right back in there. |

| Re: Tech-Forums Top Rated Antivirus ^that's very odd, in my experience that has never happened for just simple applications, some things will do that, the things that are essential but never something so insignificant. Perhaps another member knows what is going on and can enlighten us.

But thanks a lot for your help anyway.
I will try the same thing again, who knows, maybe it will work this time.....
It's just that I'm afraid to run combofix without having AVG turend off, because combofix gave me this message/warning saying I should turn off AVG before I run a combofix scan, otherwise it might cause damage to my PC. That message scared me. |

| Re: Tech-Forums Top Rated Antivirus sorry but not as common as i would like to think....
this guy i know mrizos hes got a website and youtube he removes rootkits everyday both corparations and home users. he must see at least 10 rootkits a day. very good bloke works hard does a good job, he would not let his clients ure a antivirus without rootkit detection, this is beacuse most peaces of malware realte to a rootkit and the fact most exploits and fake antivirus alerts use rootkits, rootkit protection is very important. and santuzzo i can fix u up with nod32 antivirus for free if you so wish, thanks ryan |
