In AVG 8.0 if you manually disable anything like the link scanner or email scanner it goes into error state. Is there any way to make avg's status stay normal with these things disabled

Sadly there are people without what seems as common sense to us techies. You wouldn't believe how many people I know that DO use LimeWire, and when I've told 'em to look at the file size and make sure its the size of an actual song, I get a blank stare. So I explain to them what it is, and hope that they learn.

I read that a recent update to AVG fixed the spybot immunization conflict so I'm planning on switching back to AVG soon. Just thought I'd post here in case others here have also been avoiding AVG until they fix this conflict.

When you first install AVG 8 you have the option to install the link scanner, choose not to install it

I dont use an antivirus. I like to risk it. Antivirus programs slow me down. Do you really need an antivirus if you haver a completely patched version of XP and some sense? No.

If you can pay for it, i would probably go with nod32, though AVG is an excellent free AV and even when payed for.

Though i am not using an AV atm, like lefteye I'm taking a risk

Norton should be burned on a cross.
