your log looks a bit cleaner.

restart your computer in safe mode, log into your acct.

fix the following,

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe

O7 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\System, DisableRegedit=1

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: hanonvt.ini

I assume I go to Hijack log file and select the items mentioned and then press "Fix Checked". In so doing I get a message saying "Nothing Selected ... continue"

yes, thats correct.

this >> O20 - AppInit_DLLs: hanonvt.ini needs to be fixed using the "delete on reboot" feature. you can find it under the main menu.

if hijackthis won't repair these for you try the most recent version, http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en...hijackthis.php

ECTech.....Many thanks.
Those 4 items you mention 8-28-07 have now been sucessfully removed.

Do you have any views on why my Norton antivirus did not pick up these intrusiosn and block them?
Just curious really.

Cheers

it depends on what version your using & how often you or the program update the definitions. many times, when a machine gets infected, whether its from virus's or spyware one of the first things the "malware" goes for is any security systems set in place. However, there are also whats called "rootkits" which are designed to hide them selfs from the Operating System including Norton or any other security products. Which is what Winantivirus is partially.

Always remember security is like an onion and it must be applied in layers.

your welcome
