Default Problem with Hidden Files/Folders Option?

Greetings people of Tech-Forum~

Before I created this topic, I used the search function to look for a topic similar but didn't find any.

Anyway, I'm having some problem when I go to my folder options and try to change the setting for hidden files/folders. Whenever I set the setting to "show hidden files and folders" and click apply, nothing happens and the setting goes back to the default setting "do not show hidden files and folders".

I searched online and found a method where you go to your system registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Curr entVersion>explorer>Advanced>Folder>Hidden>SHOWALL) and change the "CheckedValue" key to 1...but this also was a failure and my key goes back to 0.

Could this be a possible virus? I checked out other forums and a lot of them assumed it's a virus. I tried scanning my laptop with the McAfee virus scanner but everything came out clean. I was wondering if anyone has a solution for this?

Hello,

I would say Virus as well. But McAfee is not a good scanner. So i would try going thru our guide first.
