Default new pc protection

Im getting a new gaming rig tomorrow and im wondering what kind of software i should look into getting to protect my new baby? Is it worth paying a bit for some anitviruses? Thanks guys!

Get avast for anti virus. I use that and Windows Defender and I've haven't had any problems. Others use ZoneAlarm but I don't like it.

Avast or AVG both have free versions and are both very good.
