My mate has a msn screen name message that comes up everytime he opens a conversation and it repeats every 2 minutes or so.
I was wondering if anybody knows how to delete it or detect it.
I have not heard of it before so I have no idea how to help him.
His pc is MS XP pro

Lol, do you mean everytime he opens a convo it auto says something (eg. advertises something)?

Sounds just like a piece of adware.

Reminds me of the time MSN would just open up a conversation with like 20-30 of my friends and it would say something like, bla bla bla clickhere, I had no control over it, i would just logoff.. luckily my friends didnt click on it. If i remember right, microbell helped me remove it with hijackthis.. this was when I had my old HP, not my current pc though.

had this problem before - you friend has download a free addon for msn like Nuge Mania of something of a similar type (its their way of earning money for their ree prog) to get rid of it it will be hidden probberly in program files but that still wont get rid of you message you need to end its PROCESS (download prokill http://download.sysinternals.com/Fil...Explorer9x.zip) and remove things like 108search assistant and other crap - i realy need to know what this message says though also ask your friend if he had downloaded a porgram called block checker (that usually contains a message that can be removed eaisly if you know how )
