| Keep your virus definitons up todate. I have never install any Zone Alarm, Black Ice, Internet Security on my PC, and I have only had 1 time where i had a problem. And that was with BACKORFICE many years ago. They only software i use to protect my OS is :- * McAffee Virus Scan * SpyBot S&D * AdAware 6.0 * HiJack This I am also behind a NetGear DG814, but that only has a MILD firewall. IMHO, Internet Sercurity Software is some thing that the average home PC user does not need. I have more problems with Virus and Spyware (both personally and professionally) than I do with people trying to hacked in by some out side source. How ever, this is also dependant on the type of internet user. I guess I am the type of internet user that does not attract this sort of attension in the first place.

| I use cable and it's important for me to have a firewall I use Look 'n' stop lite fully customisable, light on resources, freeware, and very effective I think you can get it here: http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/freeware.html and I use Antivir Personal edition: also free, light on resources, also very fast, and I found it to detect more viruses than Norton http://www.free-av.com |

| I am using Norton Internet Security 2004 Pro, it is the AV and Firewall package in one. But since I have multiple computers, I can only have that installed on two, the rest I use Zone Alarm as a firewall and Symantec Antivirus Corp. Edition (The licence I have allows me to use it at work and at home) They both work fine, for some reason, McAfee doesn't find all of the virii all of the time but any AV is better than none. |
