Default info on the virus exposure of a gps unit..

Hey Guys ..
I have a quote regarding the virus exposure of a GPS phone system ..The one which I am using is called NAV4ALL and it is quite new software..I use it mainly because it is free (although it also performs better than I actually expected) and I could not afford to buy TomTom ..I downloaded it from their website, which concerns me, because I don’t know whether this type of software obtained in such a way is virus free and even if it does not contain any viruses ,is there a chance that the virus exposure of my phone will increase?
Thank you!

there isnt a way that a "phone" can get viruses.

I own a cellphone, and i download lots of ringtones, screensavers, and i havent got a virus.

If you are really worried, you can try this mobile antivirus, i just googled it!

Default nav4all

Yeah, the programme is safe, at least for now i've had it for about a week already and it works fine with me. Actually it's pretty kewl because it is very light and simple to use. it downloads only needed maps from the internet [s oyou're not left with unwanted traffic]... give it a try

Actually any cell phone that uses the Symbian OS can get several virus's. The Symbian OS powers some cell phone models manufactured by Nokia, Siemens, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and Panasonic.

These virus/worms spread by using text message, Internet downloads, (Ringtones/Screensavers), and Bluetooth which looks for another phone to infect.

That said..the likelyhood of getting a virus is very slim as it's not widespread but it can happen. Only recently (within the last few months) has some of these shown up in the states. So in conclusion if your mobile phone does not use the Symbian OS your safe from any virus because at present this is the only OS thats been exploited.

yep...i already did it ...it works ok thanks again

The softaware also is quite interesting ...This real time thing is really cool- the phone downloads the maps directly via a satelite so everithing is maximally updated ...One street was closed because of some construction and it showed it to me and recalculated another way ..

yeah, it downloads maps from the internet real-time and only the ones that you request... not a whole package of the area in cluding maps you'll not use but still pay for the traffic. However, the bad thing about the program is the user-friendliness and interactivenss of the maps. They are 2D and it seems like tomtom outbeats them in this area... :s

yeah ,i know that the maps lack detailness and good quality ,but i did not expect that much in the end -after all it is still for free ..And for me it is really time and money saving ,that is why i don`t wanna try another software
i think that after it gets paid (was it in august?) it will improve ,because there is a lot of interest towards this software ,but people really expect more in order to swich from TomTom and other competitors to it.

but elly do u know something about the price which u pay to the company for using their software-do u think it is going to increase after the download gets paid?
because this 1 euro which i pay now does not seem like something which is going to last forever..
