Default IE 6 Privacy Problem

When I change the privacy settings for my cookies in IE 6 it changes back to the "Advanced or imported settings" screen. Even if I turn on the advanced settings they are blank when I close out and check them again.

I have installed SpyBot S&D 1.3 RC4 and upated, no spyware. I also have sygate installed. However I always use these programs and this is the first time I have had this problem. And yes I did a repair on IE 6 and internet tools.

I can't think of anything else, I have never had a problem like this.

Thanks,
Chaos

This may seem like a silly question, but are you hitting "apply" after making the changes?

Also, SpyBot has an immunize function that will keep your IE settings as imported. You may have that turned on.

You dont have to hit apply, if you hit ok, it saves the settings. The onlything apply does, it applys the changes and keeps the window open. If you hit ok, the settings are applied and the window closes. The only way the settings arent saved is if you hit cancle.

Your first post said that you closed it, and you can close it by "okay" or "cancel", I didn't want to assume that you had hit either one. That's why I asked it in that way. I'm not insinuating that you did one way or another, but this wouldn't be the first time that someone tried to change something and didn't hit "okay" nor "apply".

Since you know the difference, I guess you did hit the "okay".

Second part...

Are you using the SpyBot immunize function? And is that keeping your settings customized?

I have disabled both SDhelper and the teatimer program. Leaving SpyBot S&D installed on the hard drive. It still exibits the problem. I'm assuming its a micro$oft bug. I cant think of anything else.
