Default I hate this java by sun tech, wheres the old one?

A while ago I installed my new windows xp sp2 (slip streamed version) and found out internet explorer doesn't use java anymore. I had to download java by sun, and it's horrible.

The new java lags my computer for a second when it loads up, which is so annoying, and just stays in memory even when it's not needed, unless I close all the IEs opened and open a new one.

How do I stop this new java from functioning like this, or where do I get the old java for internet explorer (old one was called virtual machine right? not sure)?

Thanks.

actually the "old java" is by Sun Microsystems and the "new, buggy java machine" is by Microsoft

but seriously, Sun's Java is the original and so much better in terms of stability, speed and scalability. one of the most downloaded filesharing programs today, Azureus, uses Java.
If you have problems with it I think it's rather a problem with your system configuration.

try this if you want to downgrade to microsoft again:

My system is top notch especially since I have a clean install.

Java sun is the problem. When I load a website that uses it like the speed tests at dslreports.com, there is a noticeable lag the first time. The second time fine, but restart the computer and boom, lag, annoying.

The worst part is that once java sun loads up, it stays up even if I surf on other pages that don't use java. So what I end up doing is exiting internet explorer and restarting it just so I can empty my ram of java sun.

I shouldn't have to put up with that. The old java internet explorer never behaved like that, and this java shouldn't either, I mean it's newer, it should be better, especially at version "1_4_2_05." Come on sun microsystems, newer versions should mean better performance, not suckier performance.

I shouldn't go back to the old java since I won't be able to use the newer features, I have to use this new version, dumb.

Yea, microsoft striped their leased version built into internet explorer. Using Mozilla Firefox 0.9.2 with Java 1.4.2_05.
