Default Hijacked by Belasearch?? What is this?

My friend has an older Gateway 450MHz Essentials 450 running Windows 98. I was trying to help him figure out why it's so slow.....he's paying for Verizon's 1.5Mbps high speed internet.....but is getting only 384kbps....according to a Verizon techie.

Aside from this problem which will have to worked out with the help of Verizon, he has a problem staying on any other website EXCEPT a site called Belasearch....it seems everytime you try to go to another site, this Belasearch, which appears to use Google as it's search engine....but can't possibly because of the things it comes up with when you go searching for something.

Has anyone every heard of this "thing" called Belaseach? If so, how can he get it off of his computer? I tried using "Ccleaner" but it's still there after several runs.

Need help here.....we can't seem to navigate the WWW without be taken back to Belasearch every few key strokes...and I mean all the time..
