Default HELP! All programs on my computer are closing!

I rebooted my pc today, and now whenever i open firefox, internet explorer, windows live messenger, trillian etc.. i get a "app name.exe" has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

"ETCETC"

its the microsoft send error report message.

What can I do to fix this?

Um your guide is pretty lengthy and I could just use the Compaq system format program before doing that ;P Don't get me wrong its worth it if you have lots of info on your computer you don't want lose but its just to much for me to do. ;X

I will try doing the last known good configuration real quick.

Well, warez heres what happened.. I restarted in the last known configuration.. IT DIDNT LOAD MY PROFILE... it gave me errors left and right. and its annoying.. I guess im just gonna format.. Thanks for the help anyways.
