Default help

a friend of mine is having problems with his computer sometimess when he restarts his computer it comes up a blue screen and says its dumping all phyisical memory and my background is always some stupid default thing with clouds and a field even when i change it too a picture when restarted its the stupid field.whats the cause of this?how can i fix this?what can i do to solve this?

Im sure he uses IE, Im sure he has norton if he has any AV at all, If he could I would just reformat.

Download and run, AVG antivirus, spywareblaster, adware SE personnel, spybot S & D, and use firefox as browser.

run defrag and disk clean up
us msconfig, to clean up start up stuff.
