Can you get into Safe Mode and work from there to run some things?

My suggestion would be if you have windows xp you put in the xp disc boot from cd and run a repair install to replace the files, but wait for the normal team to respond

| Re: explore.exe problem Hello,
I fully agree with Silverlord. There is no options left. For XP you can try a repair install. But for Windows Vista you will have to format and reinstall.
Cheers,
Mak

| Re: explore.exe problem Hello,
Without knowning what you have done to modify the system, like what software you have installed, there isnt much we can tell you.
It could a result from a virus. It could be from a corrupted application install. IT could be from losing power. Could jsut be your profile got corrupted. There is so many options as to what it could be. It is just to tough to narrow it down to the exact cause without being able to run software on the machine to help diagnose what happened.
Cheers,
Mak

| Re: explore.exe problem More then likely, it is a corrupt application install that messed with some key files on your OS. I had this exact problem after installing alcohol 120% on vista, then I realized alcohol 120% doesn't work on vista.

| Re: explore.exe problem I would suggest a repair install also. This will fix the windows files on your system, and hopefully fix the problem with explorer.exe without you loosing you any files.

Sorry to say but that is wrong. Any version after version 1.9.5 build 4251 will run on Vista just fine. I know. I use it all the time without any problems. There is actually a few builds before that one that work as well. Just have to get a updated version to work on Vista and not use a older outdated version.
Cheers,
Mak
