Default cursor jumps?

This is an odd problem...while scrolling or clicking, my cursor will occasionally jump to another point on the screen without me having moved it. Any suggestions as to why this may be happening?

My system has been through some changes as of late, but is showing no other symptoms of infection.

If you have an optical mouse they will do that from time to time.

No, I use a synaptics touchpad, and haven't changed the settings in a long time. This is a pretty recent development, which is what led me to believe it may be the result of some traces of malware. Odd...

hmm.. yeah im having the same problem sorta, but im using a laser mouse
