Default Colonel Suggests Using Hackers Tools

Apparently an Air Force colonel is taking a page from the hacker handbook and suggesting that the U.S. military build its own botnet to use against the computer networks of our enemies. What do you think? Is turnabout fair play?

The proposal Col. Charles Williamson III outlined in the May edition of the Armed Forces Journal highlights the creative cyberwarfare strategies being hashed out by the military as hackers abroad step up their attacks on U.S. government computer networks and others around the world.

Why not? Gotta retaliate against hackers somehow, it just seems like national security to me.

There isn't enouph legeslation to controle the use of the internet, the warcrimes act was put in place only after all the raping, theft and killing of civians took place; on a political level it is a mistake, fairplay is not the perview of the government, securing us from attack is, attacking back may sound good, but on the battlefield of the internet they risk more than they could gain by acting hostile, it would be better to employ the same rescourses
in developing a means to identify the attackers.
