Default Use different browser to open htm file in shortcut target

Hello all,

Probably an easy one for you but I am stumped! As per usual I have IE as a default browser but also due to an archaic program I also have Navigator installed. What I am looking for is how do I point to Navigator in the target path in order to open this htm file? Yes, it is easy to 'Open with' but I want to use a shortcut that will immediately start Navigator then open my ancient program.

Many thanks.

What kind of ancient program is started in a browser from your local machine? Anyway, try creating a shortcut to Navigator using the path to the file as a parameter.

If you want all HTML Files then it is easy. Just give me the OS you are using for proper instructions. But if you only want certain HTML files and not all there is no way to select only certain files of a certain type to open with a certain program.

The PC is using XP but I can recall once seeing a shortcut target start pointing at Navigator then on to the target htm file.
The program is for reach truck parts which has not been upgraded or supported since 1999! I realise that I can open up all with Navigator but unfortunately there is another program that refuses to open in Navigator and only in IE, so you can see my predicament!

Alright let me ask this. What are teh file types? Are they HTML? Do you want that specific file type to open with only Navigator? If so in My computer click Tools>Folder Options. There click the File Types tab. Scroll to HTML and select Naviagator. That will force the HTML file association to be fully with Navigator and bypass the ties to IE.

1 thing to consider is that the files may not work with Naviagtor cause they are not supported. Navigator is old and may not be able to read teh code of the HTML file which is why it defaults to IE.
