| well...i got SBC Yahoo DSL and i really dont think it's any good...wondering if any of you know any tweaks or know any links to tweaks for the modem or stuff like that...cus i seriously think it is not good from where i am, i play cs and average a 100 ping or so on a nearby local server, while someone i know further from the server gets a much lower ping, is there supposed to be something i do by moving the modem or anything away from electronics or something... Edit: also, my DSL always goes out, meaning that it like dies for awhile, and then i have to turn it off then on, and i think i heard like i need a new filter or something cus whenever i use my housephone, it dies too... |

| Newb Techie | My friend has the same problem and so did I. At the time I didn't know any ways to really solve the problem other than restarting the modem. I eventually just switched back to regular SBC without the Yahoo, and it hasn't gone down since and works beautifully. Not really much help I guess, but that is what I did. |

| Never really had a problem with SBC; always get a consistent 140-160k/sec., and pings rarely go above 90 on near servers. If the problems persist, it's very worth the $50 to get a splitter. Most of SBC's recent problems are related to the entire network, so if you have any concerns about the service, broadbandreports' forums is the place to go. |
