I have a quick update on where we are with Acid3.
Since the test was officially announced recently, our Core developers have been hard at work fixing bugs and adding the missing standards support.
Today we reached a 100% pass rate for the first time! There are some remaining issues yet to be fixed, but we hope to have those sorted out shortly.

We will release a technical preview version on labs.opera.com within the next week or so. For now, the screenshot above shows the Acid3 test as rendered in our latest WinGogi Desktop build. WinGogi is the Windows version of our reference builds used for the internal testing of Opera's platform independent Core.

Sory for all you OS X fans. Not even they have a browser that can do this yet. Looks like Opera is the first to get Acid3 compliant.

From doing some more research it seems that Safari Nightly builds are at 98% compliant. So they are close. But it seems that Opera beat them to the punch on this one. If they can get this build out by Friday they will be the first browser to do it.

The Acid tests are a test to check teh compatibility of a web browser with some standardized tests. Acid2 was the standard for so long but Acid3 test was recently released and no browser passed.

With Acid2 there were several browsers that passed.

Safari for both Windows and OS X
Opera
Firefox 3 beta
IE8

But now with Acid3 no browser passed.
