Default opening .pdf files in IE

How can I configure my PC so that PDF files open in an internet explorer window?

I know that some sites are designed so that you download them before you open them, but I'm talking about the ones where I left click on them and they try to open in the IE window but I get message that says "pluggin did not initialize" or something close to that. I can still right click on the link and "save target as" and then open it with adobe reader 6.0

Thanks,
sven
