| Re: Internet Explorer 8 We cant tell you how long the PC will work for cause we can not tell you when the hardware will fail.
the software will continue to work no matter what. It will be dependent on when your hardware fails. People can still run win95 even though it is not supported anymore. you can run the software as long as you like. Your hardware is the factor there.
IE is slow to load. Plain and simple. You could have a system with 128GB of RAM and 32 Processors. It will still take 30 or more seconds to load it. IE is just that way. So no matter what you do it will always take that much time if not more.
If you want a faster loading browser you would have to check out Opera, Safari or Chrome.

| Re: Internet Explorer 8 Okay?
They get support from the people who develop them and get updates as needed. Opera, Safari, Firefox all have Auto Update. So they can check for new versions when the browser loads to make sure you have the latest version. Which is much more often than the once a month approach that Microsoft takes to their updates.
Windows Updates only supports Windows and Microsoft products. So therefor you have to check manually for updates to things such as Flash which is needed to view videos online, Java which is heavily used online and other such things. Along with Driver updates and much more.
Windows Update should not be a determining factor to why you wont use a piece of software. windows Update is very basic, very generic and isnt used that often. It doesnt update everything on your PC in the first place and shouldnt be looked at as a determining factor in your decision.

| Re: Internet Explorer 8 No. My PC is 5 years old and a Dell. Works just fine even with Vista and Win7. Just because a PC is old doesnt mean that it will be slow and not work right. If you take care of it, then it can last you a real long time.

| Re: Internet Explorer 8 Again we can not tell you how long it will last. That is beyond our scope of expertise. It would be like us trying to predict the weather or when the world will end. There is no telling when a hardware failure might occur.
For some it happens within a month, for others it could happen after 10 years. We dont know and can not say.
Mine is only a Pentium 4 as well. 3.4GHz. I have XP and i have also run Vista and Win7 on this machine. That doesnt matter.
Yes more RAM will help. but it is not the only factor.

| Re: Internet Explorer 8 Streaming video over the internet is usually via Flash and at a low resolution. Going full screen will make it look bad no matter how much RAM you have. |
