right lets say i want to wipe my hard drive, when i install firefox agian ill have obviously lost all my bookmarks, is there anyway i can save them on disc and then just copy and paste the file into the firefox folder or something? or doesnt it work like that.?

I do remember all my important bookmarks its just a pain re typing/adding them all agian

Click Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > File > Export. Firefox will export them as a file. Just put it on a disk or flash drive and you are good to go.

When I used Firefox I used the FoxMarks add on. You make an account then upload you boomarks to a server.

Then, on whatever computer you are using, you can put FoxMarks on there, log in, and retrieve them.

Trotter's method will work grand, also.
