Outside of that, use thier tech support. You paid for the product, and that price includes the support... even if it is just a script. |
It was hard to diagnose the routers. Both the Linksys and the Netgear use an internet connection to set themselves up, so of course, when I am plugged into the routers trying to get them going, it wont connect to the internet, therefor, the routers wont configure. |

If you can't connect to the setup page, you may want to check your cables and your computer. |

| Re: Cant connect to IE or Firefox but AOL still works? Ok, so weird this happened....
I tried to set up the router once more. I just did the normal install by using the install disk. It did the usual thing where it wont initialize and keeps going through the initialization procedure while a message pops up saying I have no connections. Well I got fed up with that and exited the setup program. It asked me " setup is not finished, do you still want to exit?" and I said yes and closed the program down. I left my cable in the router and tried to use the internet and it worked! So I thought this was a fluke and hooked up my gf's comp to the router as well and hers works! So both computers are working properly through the router even though the router is not set up properly.... weird. |

If it works, use it. If it stops working, call the router's tech support and let them walk you through a firmware update and configuration. |

| Re: Cant connect to IE or Firefox but AOL still works? So the router is working still and I still have both comp hooked up to it. One thing that is odd is that my comp gets frozen sometimes.
It'll be loading a page for about 5 min and then snap out of it like nothing happened. This happens about twice a day.
I have an ethernet card hooked up to my comp and I have noticed that the cable is wiggly in there. The connection light on the ethernet card itself will go off is the connection becomes loose. This looseness is just how the card is, its not broken, its just crappy. But there are only a couple of these ethernet cards on the market so I dont have much of a choice. I know you're going to say that the connection is wonky because the ethernet cord is loose in the card but that is not the case. Even when I wiggle it around the internet doesnt not spring back to life.
Can an ethernet cord be pinched? |

| Yes. This can break the wires inside of it.
If your browser hangs like that, click the Stop button, and then reload the page. it just happens sometimes. |
