such thing as FREE server/SQL diagnostic tools?

Does anyone here know of any free tools for diagnosing servers (linux) or SQL databases?

I have had nothing but problems since I bought a VPS, and I don't know if it's a server misconfiguration, whether I screwed something up in the database, or whether I just got a crappy deal from this hosting company.

The HTML files on my website are fast, all the php files on my forum are ridiculously slow. And I need some FREE tools to help me figure out why.

Why don't you ask your server provider for help?

I guess your VPS plan is unmanaged, you could try and some sort of technical assistance from VPS plan providers, VPS links.com, Cheapvps.com and a2hosting.com, there should be per hour support rates, so try contacting them.
If you don't like this option, then check Linux operating system Portal 1 for guidance they provide.
