Default Sky Broadband?

Hi. I am considering making a switch of ISPs, from Tiscali to Sky. I am moving from tiscali because its more epensive than sky, and also it disconnects lots (i had to try 3 times to download silkroad, because it kept cuttting lol) So im just wondering: is the service of sky good, are the speeds good, is it a rock solid connection, and is it good for gaming? Also, is the router fully wireless, or has it got wired connections asweell? Im from UK, if that makes a difference.

By the may, im going to get the MAX package.

I would wonder how they could provide that level of bandwith for so cheap, but I'm not an expert on ISPs.

Here in the UK i think most of the lines are standerd Bt. I think disconnecting has something to do with the distance from the exchange and the lines rather than the poeple you pay  , however if sky works out cheeper then go for it. Please dont get caught out by the line rental and other hidden costs.

Take a few moments to read this before switching Hidden Costs of Broadband

I have SKY broadband with SKY MAX. I get on average speeds of 1.4mb/s but i am only 40 meters away from the local exchange.

I recommend it i have only had problem and that was down to a power shortage at SKY's end so 10 out of 10.

My sky package costs £25 a month which includeds 2 tv packages and sky max. (Sky Max is £10 a month).

I pay £36 a month alltogether for line rental, tv and broadband.

I am like the first poster except, I have made the switch. It couldn't have been easier. You phone tiscali and ask for a MAC code then give that to sky. You can have the router installed or set it up yourself. It is very easy as all you have to do really is plug it in. Ask me if you want some more info!
