| I have a website running on a XAMPP server on my personal computer. Im using this pc for any everyday work I need to do and has many programs installed as well since its my only pc. My problem is when I want to visit my website using the dns/web address I cant access the website but when I access the website using my private IP Address I can access my website. This problem is the same when I used computers in computer shops/cafe's. The windows firewall is already off and the outdated pc-cilin firewall is off but when i tried to turn it on it displays an error msg. But there are times that I can access my website using its dns but most of the time I cant access it directly/through its dns but I can always access it uisng the IP Address either home or in an internet cafe/shop. BUT THIS WEEK I CAN'T ACCESS MY WEBSITE ANYMORE USING THE DNS/WEB ADDRESS. Please help me...Im very desperate bec. I had this problem for a year now...please help.. Answer of Boberelli to my 1st question posted: (from YAHOO ASK) When you ping the site name from your PC, what does it resolve to? It's most likely due to the way your firewall works. This is common behavior. I work in an enterprise network and we cannot connect to our websites with the external IP address form the inside network, we must use the private address, which means we doctor our DNS. My respond to Boberelli: HOW TO DOCTOR MY DNS??? When I ping my private IP address (from the internet shop) here's the result: Pinging xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx with 32 bytes of data: Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: bytes=32 time=332ms TTL=113 Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: bytes=32 time=320ms TTL=113 Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: bytes=32 time=330ms TTL=113 Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: bytes=32 time=331ms TTL=113 Ping statistics for xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 320ms, Maximum = 332ms, Average = 328ms And when I ping the dns/web address (still from the internet shop). I used xxx.xxx.xxx just an example for my web address. Here's the result: Pinging xxx.xxx.xxx.meridiantelekoms.com <snipped> with 32 bytes of data: Reply from <snipped>: bytes=32 time=325ms TTL=47 Reply from <snipped>: bytes=32 time=347ms TTL=47 Reply from <snipped>: bytes=32 time=284ms TTL=47 Reply from <snipped>: bytes=32 time=274ms TTL=47 Ping statistics for <snipped>: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 274ms, Maximum = 347ms, Average = 307ms Why is it my web address has an extension of .meridiantelekoms.com <snipped>??? And this is not my IP Address-> <snipped> When I visited <snipped> the webpage displayed the same when I visited meridiantelekoms.com AM I HACKED??? Please help I beg of you THANK YOU! | All round good guy! | Please could you refine your question a little. What exactly is the problem you are experincing? If your question has already been answered elsewhere before this post it will be treated as a spam attempt to create inbound links to the ip address listed.
