Question New website issues

The section below is the issue I'm having. When I navigate to index.php and try to execute it, it just downloads and then asks what program to use to open it, etc. This is my first time setting up a website from scratch. My website is hunt fish trap saltwater cabelas.com at huntfishtrap.net . I have no idea how the information is on my site when you click the link. Anyways, anyone have experience with this? My domain is ready to go, registered, etc. I have successfully uploaded my software via FTP WS_FTP Pro but just need to "install" index.php. I installed Dolphin into a subdirectory. It looks like this: http://huntfishtrap.net/Dolphin/install/index.php

I dont see any installation instructions.

Step 4: Run the Install Script

Using your favorite web browser, navigate to install/index.php within the directory into which you have just installed Dolphin on your web site: After this the installation instruction should appear in your browser's window. Follow them carefully to complete the installation. Here's a summary of the info you will have to specify:

Thanks!!

Did you point your domain to the web server? If you did, you'll need to place your index file in the public folder otherwise a different page will show up if there is a default page on the server.

To install, you must change the properties of the file in ws_ftp so you can read/write/execute....

For the properties of the Dolphin folder including the sub-directories groups, - owner, group and world all have read, write and execute. Which public folder do I put it in? Public_html, public_ftp? What files need to go in the public folder?

You'll need to put it in public_html. Any web page/file that you want viewers to access needs to be in the public folder.

Who did you get your domain from? Did you get it from your webhost or a separate company? It still looks to me that it is not pointed to the server.

You'll need two address and host names to point a domain to a server.

I'm getting through to his site just fine, so it's not a domain issue. The problem, from what I can tell, is that files aren't on the server ("No such file or directory"). Going to your site, I see that all you have is an install directory there (along with cgi-bin). You will need all the directories uploaded for it to install correctly.
