| Monster Techie | I've had my domain registered with Namezero.com for quite some time now, but have been having problems with the resoliving of the servers...so I figured I might try to point it at my Web Host's nameserver--since it's free and "priority"... Anyways...can you tell me what EMAIL has to do with nameservers? They provide a 10MB email account with the domain, and I have *@mydomain.com go to one email account...but after changing the nameserver I've been having some problems... This is the first time I've ever delt with this type of thing--so any help is appreciated...thanks Oyeah, another thing that confused me...my original "email configuration" on the domain provider is still there...but also now on my web host, it has the option to add an email address...which one is the one that SHOULD have contrl!! So confusing |

| hope this helps Domain Registra: like namezero, godaddy, network solutions, etc different companies offer different features and functionality, but in simplest terms, THEY only register your domain name (xyz.com) with Internic = they convert your IP address to a name, so when you type in xyz.com, it resolves to the correct server. Hosting Company: tons of them out there.... They provide the web server, which your actuall web pages reside on. You can have a domain registered and "parked" at the registra AND have you web pages on your host's web server.... BUT until you "point" the DNS to the web host server.... the website will not be "live" Now, to help answer your question... the registra OR web host might have Zone File entries that you can edit. (example: www record, email record, ftp record, etc. these can effect your email and website IF they are configurred incorrectly... which may be your problem??? anyway... I THINK I have most of this right, but might have explained it slightly wrong, etc. good luck |

| Master Techie | Let me see if i get this straight...You have a domain and it was parked at namezero...you had set up some email accounts with namezero? Then you forwarded your DNS to a hosting compamny and your emails no longer work? If the above is correct, then the reason behind that is that you need to recreate your email accounts with your hosting company, when you signed up for the hosting plan, they shoul have given you control pannel access to administer your domain. Log in there and see if you can see the email accounts. Does your site pull up when you go to it? If you whois the domain is it pointing to the new name servers?
