Default isp speeds, really dumb question

ive got virgin broadband and ive got the 10Mb service, your going to kill me for this but really 10Mb isnt that fast atall in terms of MBps doesnt it work out as 1.25, which is really slow, theoretically its similar speed of usb 1 as thats got a speed of 12Mbps = 1.5MBps

uhmmm internet speeds are advertised at mega bits....download speeds are measured in mega bytes....

so 1.25 for a download speed is exactly right

In which case you are correct. And 1.25MB constant is fairly fast, the best we can get where we are is a 2Mb connection, so no more than 250KB/s.
