Installing server programs

I'm attempting to set up my own server (Apache, MySQL and the like) and am having trouble installing the applications (I didn't get very far, did I?) on my Mandrake Linux 9.1 box. My question is this: What options must be given to ./configure for MySQL 4.0.18 and PHP 4.3.6 in order for them to interact with each other and Apache 2.0.49 and handle large files (I'm try to host my own forum)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
