After you register the domain name, you tell the domain people what the nicksevers are for you webspace (Your webspace people should be able to provide you with that info) then everything is taken care of....

If you're looking for webspace www.friendlywebhost.com is a great place, and www.godaddy.com is awesome for domain names. Both are cheap and amazing customer service.

Linux space means your site is stored in linux servers ,which is more secure than the windows servers. Nuthing more I guess...

Linux generally has more options to configure and as intercodes stated, more secure.

Before anyone starts, i'm not advertising here. Some companies will give you a free domain if you buy hosting from them. That way you can get http://www.yourdomain.com and email addresses for it: email@yourdomain.com.

If you would like a free domain, try http://www.dot.tk

My company also offers a free domain with the purchase of one of our hosting packages.

there are things called domain forwarders given by company, just point ur domain to that:

like pointign to: ursite.lycos.co.uk

and as well it will show ur domain on top once page is opened.
