Right now I have a dedicated server from
www.calpop.com for $120 a month. I am happy with it, however, I was looking for something located on the east coast rather then west coast. The pings to the server are high (80-90 for west coast people) on a 100Mbit line.
Right now our system specs:
Intel P4 3.06GHZ
1 GIG RAM
2000 GIG Burstable bandwidth
120 GIG HDD
Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 1
Right now we have the following running on it:
Counter-Strike: Source (64.69.38.107:27015)
America's Army 2.2.1 (64.69.38.107)
Teamspeak 2 (64.69.38.107)
IIS [asp,perl/cgi,php] -
www.coldheartedkillers.com
E-Mail SMTP/POP3
SQL2005 Beta 2 Express
MySQL (v5 I think)
If I go on the server, or ping it I get 80-90 ping. The average person not on the west coast also gets this, usually higher. I've never had below 80 ping. I know this isn't bad, but it's bad when everyone on the server has over 100 ping.. it's also bad the server pings 100 when no one is even on it.
So, I'm looking into a dedicated server with specs that are at least:
Intel P4 2.0 GHZ
I'd rather have AMD
1 GIG RAM
We're using 738MB right now and the server is pretty much idle
80GIG harddrive
For all of our webservices and game servers, etc.
Windows 2003 [any version]
If you have a reason of why we should use a different version of Win2k3 [such as Enterprise or Web] tell me why.
1000GIG or more
I'd prefer 2000 gig, but I can live with 1000GIG. Burstable is fine too, even though I have no clue what burstable means
I need this all under $120. I don't want to pay more then $120, and I simply won't.
Also, as I am a ASP and SQL2000 programmer, I wouldn't mine having access to a SQL2000 server that the host provides (I found some that include it free, or for a small fee of like $10 extra which is fine by me)
Thank you!
