| How about having a free hosting server first before starting business and then transfering to another web hoster who provides good service. I hope that will be best Please Advice Albert incorporate : nevada corporation : BePenfriends - lets be penfriends : BePenfriends - Blog |

| Super Techie | It has been done, but I don't advise it. Free hosting is usually unreliable, short-lived, loaded with ads, etc... I and others on this board can get you great hosting for under $100 a year. Just ask around.

| True Techie | Won't recommend, not powerful enough, unless you got an insane webhost.

| I guess if you can trust your sites to a free host, they are not mission-critical, right? And you can wait till you monetize your traffic and then move to a paid host's servers. But if you feel your project will require security and stability right from the start, then free services might not be the best idea, there are budget hosting options which are available. Also what do you mean by " a free hosting server"? A shared account? They aren't expensive at all, you may find ones with multiple domain hosting allowed. The host I'm using Web hosting services starting at $4.87/mo - dedicated servers and virtual private servers from Serverpoint. offers budget shared deals, they also have cheap VPS plans. |

| Master Techie | Bad idea. For a lot of reasons. If you're starting a business, you can surely afford to pay <10$ for real webhosting. You do know you have to spend money to start a business, right? Second, any and all page rank and most traffic you get to your free host will be lost when you switch, this is a bad thing. Just get a real hosting account. They're very cheap. |

| I don't think you should start your business untill you are ready to pay 5-10 bucks, you will also need a good domain name and a website design, how are going to deal with that? You may not even need an account with multiple hosting or a reseller plan, just make sure a host sells dedicated IP, as you are going to need one to install SSL cert if you want to secure your clients. Serverpoint.com shared plans are really good, Fastservers.net and Mediatemple.com are also options to consider. Last edited by go-go; 02-06-2008 at 08:07 AM. |
