Default Apache

Greetings all

I am looking to learn apache. I've gone to apache.org, downloaded and installed Apache 2.0 for Windows. I've looked the documentation and tried to get it started but have no experience with it.

The docs are kinda hard to follow.

I've gone through the httpd.conf file a number of times. I'm trying to start httpd but can't find out how.

Anyone have any suggestions or good references/books of how to learn?

Is Apache showing up as a service? Or what happens if you do http://localhost or the name of the computer, you should not have to config anything if I remember right.
