about apache setup

when setup apache they require a dns and a mail sever, if i don't have either of them, i just want to publish via my own ip, what should i put there and how can i set it so that others can connect to my web via my ip? do i have to have a isp that provides a static ip atless? or, got to have a business dsl atless?

All you have to do is put in your static ip address or your wan ip. that will set it up so any site that is running off that ip will go to your apache server.

O yea dont forget to port forward port 80 to that server... its a simple mistake many ppl forget.

if your running behind a router no, just put the ip address of your computer

There are programs available that reconfigure apache every time your dynamic ip address changes; let me look them up and i will post them later. . .

but they allow you to run apache without a static ip address. . .

In theory, it's no different from hosting off a broadband connection, just much slower. Just make sure that when asked to enter your ip , enter the modem's ip, not your network card (assuming your computer dials directly into your isp).
