never heard of it until now... I looked at the site. My first thought was, its a scam. 2nd thought was, what kind of traffic is this???? So I did a search and I found this on a reliable forum: --------------------------------------- I would avoid it. I looked into this about a year ago and it didn't seem right. Basically it is a glorified pop-up exchange except instead of popping up one ad it pops up a list of sites people can visit. It also gives incentives for other webmasters to click on the links so you probably won't be getting too many people that would be ready to buy. Pass on this one. I've tried many of these sites, (such as trafficswarm), and you do get traffic - but it's untargetted... and what i've learnt quickly from the net, is that untargetted traffic is a waste of time! i had 10,000 visitors to one of my test sites through untargetted traffic, and 1 affiliate commission! so my advice is to avoid them!

thanks for the reply Larry i appreciate you lookin that up bud. Good find. Yes, definately targetted traffic especially because I am a service provider in Seattle so obviously, i cant drive to dallas to fix a pc or network. On the other hand, I do have 3 affiliate programs ... Zone Alarm, GoToMyPC, and an Ink supplier.. so even if i get untargetted traffic, maybe someone might make a purchase off one of those links... the ink one is pretty good cuz its 27% commission. Maybe It will help subsidize my hosting hehe....

I know you all think that traffic swarms may be ineffective, but most of the sites offer free hits to sign up, like 1000 or so. To some degree it is untarged traffic, but I have found they have driven alot of visitors to my website, obviously some of them are alot more effective than others. I think the key to marketing any website is to utulize a number of different methods, Search Engine Optimization, Search Engine Submission, Traffic Swarm programs, Forums, you name it, just like when you invest your money, investing your marketing in different areas will help you to determine what works for your site. Someone said that marketing your website to other webmasters is ineffective... ? Well at least most of those people actually have some money to splurge, instead of ineffective bulk mailing that can get you banned by your ISP and even fined. Definately do some research, try to find programs that give you statistics so you can see what works for you. I'd try also searching the internet for "Showsell.pl" if you want a cgi banner script for your website that you can fully moniter and look after yourself. If you would like to see a number of different autosurf programs available try www.reapnetwork.com (click here) Personally I have tried purchasing targeted traffic, adwords, Search Engine Optimization and so on and I find that trying out different methods will most definately help you to see what works best. If you are trying to keep things local, I'd suggest you search for online classifieds in your area, there are usually quite a few sites around that will allow free advertising in any given area. Before purchasing large amounts of advertising, I'd suggest trying the most basic offer first and see how that works before you go spend your hard earned money on something that could be a waste of time. Most websites say they are going to make you a success if you use their programs, I mean who wouldn't if your trying to sell something, you want to say "I'm the BEST!" because the market is swamped with so many choices these days. I'd also be careful about signing up to affiliate programs that are a waste of time or the types that will annoy the visitors to your site. All in all, I am no super professional at this game, I don't believe that many people truely are. However I have been using the internet now for about 8 years and always have enjoyed website design as a hobby. I have found putting a personal edge to your site makes it more effective, as people can relate to real things. Hope this can help a few people, this forum is great! ![]() * For anyone that would like to include their site on ReapNetworks Autosurf program without signing up : Username email : outofcontrol@rogers.com User Password : demomail

| Newb Techie | I take it you are talking about the infamous TrafficSwarm.com? Avoid it. I used to use it for a site i use to run a few years back. Used to get quite a bit of traffic, but they would close the window as soon as it popped up. Why would they want to look at a site that has popped up in a new window and is of no interest to them? At first i thought "Wow, so many hits!", but my logs were saying that over 95% of the traffic from TrafficSwarm.com were leaving my site in under 5 seconds. Brilliant! Like most of these type of sites, TS is no different. You will just be wasting your time. |

Actually you are right about pop-ups, because Traffic Swarm does not allow pop-ups now. I understand that Traffic Swarm originally sold it to another company, then the original owner bought it back and made some major changes. The only thing I don't like about it, is it seems their credits are quite expensive, although you can spend some time surfing to get credits for free and there is actually some decent websites to check out. When you surf for credits on Traffic Swarm you get a random amount of credits 1-5 with pro member accounts that stick out. Myself I don't use Traffic Swarm all that much because I operate my own Autosurf program that is quite new but is gaining some momentum. I just don't allow sites with pop-ups, I mean who likes them anyway. And I have linked to a few different sites which I think can help to market your site. I actually find that using various autosurf programs and using them to advertise other autosurf programs has a roll around effect that keeps visitors going to my site everyday. If you have any advice on things that are surely more effective, I would appreciate hearing about it.

FYI.... take any "service" you have to pay for that guarantees traffic with a grain of salt... as most are scams some how or another. money better spent is on higher a trusting Search Engine Optimization/SEM guy or on PPC... OR better yet, take the time and learn yourself how to gain traffic ![]()
