Search engine trouble

My website has been on all the major search engines for quite some time now, I can't figure out why my site won't come up anywhere close to the top on google, but usually pops up on the second or 3rd page on yahoo. Can someone please help me figure out why? I really wanna rang high on google as more people use it.

Is it by accident is is ranked on other search engines?

if yes, then maybe over time it will appear on google.
if no, then research the reasons why you got it ranked on yahoo for google.

the algorythm is different for different engines
