| Web design help needed with Dreamweaver! So annoyed with this problem.
I'm not much of a CSS website maker but I figured I'd give it a try. I'm very familiar with HTML and moderate java but new to CSS. I've just bought the domain spartansupport.com for a business venture. I've found a a template that I downloaded to edit in Dreamweaver. Here is the template: Template Preview (bestfriends) - Free CSS Templates
I plan on editing the words and images. I just like the setup of this template. So I downloaded that file. Then I had to open the index file in the zip file I downloaded to get the full CSS code. At this point, I'm lost. I know how to edit the code but I'm having all kinds of problems. I need help editing the webpage and getting it set up on my website. I'm using this on a 32bit Vista OS and using Dreamweaver cs3. I'm open to another CSS editor since I'm having such a hard time.
My first problem is I am not able to preview my code in either internet explorer or firefox. I've editing it several times and even mapped the browsers myself. I've already defined my site but no matter what I do my selections are greyed out. Any way to fix this?

| Re: Web design help needed with Dreamweaver! Just open the index.html file and edit it. I downloaded it just now and took a look, opened the html file is Microsoft Expression and I made some text changes, photo changes, etc. Looks pretty easy. |

Are you just opening it with notepad or something? What is microsoft expression? Yes I can make the changes in the code no problem. My problem right now is previewing what I am doing. Are you using Dreamweaver?

| Re: Web design help needed with Dreamweaver! No, Expression http://www.microsoft.com/expression/
In Expression you can edit the code, then click Design and it shows you the changes you made, Then go back over to Code and make some more changes. |

| Re: Web design help needed with Dreamweaver! Oh ok. Is that similar to Dreamweaver then? Would I be able to ftp it to my webspace? Do you know if I get the trial verison if i can edit, preview, and save? This might be my way out. Im thinking Dreamweaver just isn't working for me.
Also, since you downloaded the template. Where do i put those images for my website? Do I just send the images over to my webspace in the same image folder?

| Re: Web design help needed with Dreamweaver! I upload the pages to my site via FTP using CuteFTP
You then need to make a folder under called images and add all the photos there and then reference the code to the folder where the image is like <img src="images/xp1.jpg">
It's somewhat the same but I find Expression to be more useful to me.
There a trial editon Download details: Expression Web 2
or if you are a student you can get it free |

| Re: Web design help needed with Dreamweaver! If you want to preview a page in Dw, just save the file (even locally), and press F12 to preview in a browser. Should be a Preview in Browser option in the File or Edit menus I think, too.
