Default Transparent Icon

Hi, is it possible to make an icon background transparent using Paint Shop Pro 10? I don't have it at home, otherwise I'd check myself. My school has it and I was wondering if it were possible to do it there sometime.

You need to use a format that supports transparency such as GIF.

So there's no way whatsoever to make an icon's background invisible?
