Question Remove Scratches From Photos

Does anyone know of a good program that can remove scratches and dust from photos? I have a scanner but it doesn't seem to remove a lot of the scratches from photos on its own except scratches from slides.

Photoshop CS3 is the best but it is expensive. Depending on how severe the scratches are Photoshop Express, a free online version of Photoshop, may be adequate.

Another program you could try is Paint.NET. It is an excellent free photo editing program that is similar to Photoshop but lacks some tools that are useful for repairing images.

GIMP is also out there and can be used. A bit of a learning curve with it but a decent open source app.

GIMP - for Windows

i use the GIMP for most of my photo work too. yes it does have a bit of a learning curve but it has far more advanced tools than MSPaint , it's free and should do what you require.

Yes that's how it is called (my favorite tool). They could also use spot Healing brush tool that will automatically remove scratches from the selected areas...
