Default Photoshop Problem

I wonder if anyone can help me with a problem i have in photoshop.

When using the paint brush tool, i cant use the normal brush (the round one). I can only use the custom or added ones (like leaves etc). I dont know how to get it working again. I tried reinstalling it but it still doesnt work.

What version of photoshop are you using?

On PS CS there are two menus on the user interface that allow you to customize the brushes.
theres one on the right

and to change from custom brushes to regular, you have to reset your brushes. It seems that you may have loaded some custom brushes and not appended them to your list. To reset your brushes you have to click on the menu arrow and select the "reset brushes"

The process is the same for the right menu.

You might need to check your brush settings. Make sure that they are set to default.

You may also want to go into your preferences and try changing your display/cursor settings. I'm not sure that this will do anything, but its worth a shot.

If this does not fix your problem, I'm afraid I can't help you
It sounds like there may be a corrupted file somewhere, but you said you re-installed so the probability of that is virtually nill.

Has this been a problem since you first installed the software?
Or is this a recent problem that has occured for no apparent reason?

I'm back. I will be checking it after work today. I will get back to you tomorrow. I will find the answer. You say it happens even when you uninstall and re-install photoshop?

post a screenshot of your brush settings and your color settings. It could be that your layer's or your brushe's blending mode is not set correctly.
