jesus man, you really need to look for topics on the same subject before you post something. Theres a topic with the heading "Best Free Web Designer" about 11 topic's below yours. Sorry if im comin on strong here, but i came from a good forum that hated when people come here asking for stuff when theyre too lazy to bother trying to help themselves even the slightest bit. ****

If you dont want to click back once and view that other topic, heres a link!

Default answer...

i use to use front page for my designing but after i get to work they told me i have to use dreamweaver which i found best so far, it support most of the other language codes, and you can learn it easily if you have little back ground, otherwise i would advise you to learn

1. HTML
2. XHTML
3. Dreamweaver

this is best sort, to learn,

first thing,, dreamweaver isnt a truly web design software, its web authoring software.

secondaly, there is no difference in HTML/XHTML besides that XHTML is more standardised, so its best to start from XHTML rather than from HTML then to proceed to XHTML (you'll get bored)

there isnt anything free in the world, you can try out the trial versions of the softwares that members have mentioned, but strictly I wont recommend photoshop, as you wont be able to learn a start-up, and your trial version will be over .

Photoshop and Flash, (both have really different design methodoligy as if to see all others), but No One can beat Photoshop in effects and features.

Default HTML XHTML

i said to learn html and xhtml so you can have very easy back ground from htmland hen in useing xhtml, it's just easy as closing all the tags,
i think if you learn html it's more easy to star from something harder to understand...,
