Default Graphic card driver in reinstallation of OS

Hi everyone,
I'm helping my friend to reformat the HDD and reinstalling his pc's OS. Instead of having to search through the internet (as he had already lost the driver CD) for the graphic card driver after doing the above, is it possible for me to just copy out the said driver from his pc first, say to a thumb drive, BEFORE I reformat his HDD and then reinstalling it after I've finished reformatting and reinstalling? And will it work? If so, where can I locate the driver in Drive C?
Thx very much for all your inputs.

I would just install new drivers. It'll be better with all new ones, as the current ones are likely at least somewhat outdated.
