Default Good Hosting Site?

I am looking for a decent hosting site that lets you have an adress like: http://www.myname.hostingsite.com, not http://www.hostingsite.com/myname. Geocities uses the latter, and I don't like it.

Thanks,
Greg

Free, you just have to apply. Be sure to read the stickies in the Applications forum, so you will make a good app the first time.

Oh, I think they actually may have it closed for redesigning their website. It should be open again soon, though.

If you want to temporarily host your site, you can use one of the following temporarily though:

http://www.100webspace.com/ (ad supported)
http://www.ocean9.com/ (ad supported)
http://signup.biz.tc/ supposedly no ads here for 1 week

I would keep trying back at x3fusion, its the best free can buy!

No problem at all

Oh I also forgot to list, 1and1 has a deal right now where you can sign up and get free 6 months worth of hosting. That is QUALITY hosting, and it will give x3fusion time to finish.

you could try hosting your site at any host and then using http://www.dot.tk to get a shorter name

I tried the http://www.dot.tk thing, and there is a pop-up. Is there any way I could edit the actual http://www.whatever.tk site, and not just the freewebs one that it uses?

Thanks for that link, BTW. I'll probably still use it even if I can't kill the pop-up.

do a search on google. I recently saw a code ( javascript i think ) that you can just paste into the head tags of your site, and the popup will now show. Try it. I havnt tried it. but if it does not work, try .co.nr and .biz.tm free subdomains.

http://www.cexx.org has a bunch of those scripts for disabling pop-ups (and I've tried them). Only problem is that it only lets you edit the freewebs site that it reads. It then uses a frame to make it look like a different (not freewebs) URL. It doesn't let you edit the source of this frame, and when you look at it you can clearly see where the Pop-Up is coming from. (Be sure to check out cexx.org, though. Its a cool site and it stands for counter-exploitation)
