I haven't made any website for over 2 years now. Last time I made, I used Dreamweaver 8, however, I've lost my CD now.

Since I'm being given a task to make a local community website, I wondered if there're free website designing software available that people can recommend me.

I don't want anything advanced but CSS and XHTML based website is what I've in mind.

Is there anything better than Dreamweaver 8 around? Can anyone please recommend good website designing software?

There are many programs available if you have a hosting plan you can have a bunch of available free add-ons directly from,

wordpress
xoops
droople

Notepad comes with any computer and is the only tool you need!

But seriously, I would recommend any small to midsized website use wordpress (yes, as a CMS) or anything similar to modX, sitefinity, etc.

If you have never worked with any of these pieces of software, except for sitefinity they are CMSs based on php and allow for easy template building at the css and xhtml level. You don't need to know any php or asp.net to skin them!
