i think he needs to make the splash page automatically go to the next page once clicked, say like 10 sec on the index(splash page) then it goes on to the forum. i thought that it was the 1st page with everthin on or at least have somethin sayin click here to enter. take a look at Manchester United Official Web Site

im thinking of doin a computer forum but i dont think it would take of many around, what do you think i should do? do it or not?

Been extremly busy, no time to deal with the forum really, I am planning a complete re-model here shortly, the whole thing was rushed online, something I regret doing, thanks for all the design props, much appreciated, the webhosting is paid for, no advertising? I dont get that? my buddy prowler9 is hosting, but I allowed him to insert a jpeg ad in there, nothing huge, keep the comments going, still working out kinks and bugs!

Its pretty nice. From the technical point of view the image on the main page, where you click to enter the site is too big, also the banner at the top of the forums.

Nice pics though

Firstly don't open dead threads, create a new one and have a link here.

Black templates never look very good, there hard on the eyes. You clearly have not read what was put in my first post, the forum is still dead and has very little activity.
Get these things sorted, ASAP. Personally there is no need for a splash page, it serves no purpose from a SE's point of vie and just an extra click I have to make.

TKEY,

There is a reason there is no traffic on it yet, we have not advertised at all, and my ground business, "Midwest Customz" in Kansas City Missouri, has not opened yet, so technically it wont until the store does, as for the dark templates, we are working so it can be user adjusted, probably 4 or so different ones to use, varying in different color arays. As for the splash page it stays, When the shop opens, there will be a Ride Of The Month. And that is where that will go, the index on the tab is being fixed as we speak, As for openeing a dead thread, my apologies, however I dont see the point in wasting another topic, it's pointless...? The forum, was a electronics vehicle page, and has been now fully switched over to nothing but vehicle & automotive tech.

The Gallery button image will be changed along with the Index instead of the page name, hopefully by the end of the day, I would like to get a nice flash intro going...however I am not sure...

Oh And how would I go about changing that splash screen to auto change in 4-5 secs?

I dotn really like the dark colors. You can make dark colors work, look at the forum in my sig, and look at the different color schemes you can have on that one. But, it looks alright. good work

Opening dead threads is not correct forum pratice, by opening a new thread you are not "wasting space" (you will be suprised how little space it actully takes up in a database!), instead are saving space by allowing users not to have to scroll through pages of posts. In future create a new topic and link to this one. Also include things you have found out/done since last time and any other things we need to know!

Your splash screen can be changed automatically with something called a meta refresh tag.

Meta refresh - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Refresh page after 5 seconds:
Code:
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="5" />
Redirect to tech-forums.net after 5 seconds:
Code:
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="5;url=http://tech-forums.net" />
Redirect to tech-forums.net immediately:
Code:
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://tech-forums.net" />
Good luck with your Forum, Tkey
