Default cant view '±'(plus minus sign) within cgm graphic

Hi,

My client uses ActiveCGM(who arent much help, thus why I'm here..) to draw technical illustrations. Some of these illustrations include the '±'(plus minus sign, alt+0+1+7+7), however they currently only see square boxes for these particular characters. I was almost certain that this is just another font issue, however, I have validated my system fonts against their's, matching each environments, but i am still unable to reproduce this issue(and hence find the sol'n). I then removed most of my fonts except for about 8 that Windows Explorer and IE apparently require, but no luck there either. Does anyone have any ideas of where I should go next? I downloaded another cgm viewer(Itedo) to see if it was ActiveCGM's fault, however I am still able to see the character and my client is not.

This is occurring on XPSP2 and Win2K server envs. I'm not familiar with graphics and fonts, but is there an application which can tell me what fonts a CGM requires(or is looking for)? Or are there other systems settings that could be causing this?

Any help would be awesome,

thanks
