| Hello, I have a canon HV10 HD video camcorder. I'm using Windows XP Pro with all the latest updates installed. When I attached the camcorder to the computer via firewire, it is detected and drivers are installed properly. However when I open Windows movie maker (or Ulead DVD Movie Factory) I cannot capture from the tape. I can control the functions of the tape (FF, Rewind, Play) from the computer but no image appears on the computer. If I put the camcorder in camera mode I can capture live images to the computer, but not in play mode. I've tried this on a Vista machine with the same exact problem. It does however work perfectly on a Mac (go figure). Does anyone have any idea why I cannot capture from the tape, even though my programs are detecting the camera and can capture live? THanks for your help! |

| I believe you can't capture hd into xp's movie maker... you may be able to, once you adjust it's output display from hd to sd (this will be imported as SD) I capture HD and SD from my Canon HV20 using Vista's movie maker if I film in SD but don't change the output/display, I can't import...but it goes well once I do... I can export HD vie HD to Vista WMM fine as well firewire
